Fechando os jogos deste domingo de 17ª rodada do Brasileirão, o Cruzeiro recebeu o Vitória no Mineirão e não conseguiu passar pela defesa baiana e só ficou no empate por 0 a 0. Na estreia de Vagner Mancini pela equipe de Salvador, o time visitante fez uma partida equilibrada no primeiro tempo e conseguiu superar a pressão celeste no final do jogo.O goleiro Fernando Miguel foi o grande nome da partida, tendo salvado pelo menos duas oportunidades claras de gols por parte dos mineiros.

Com o resultado, a Raposa vai aos 23 pontos e fica a quatro do G6, na nona colocação. Já o Leão segue no penúltimo lugar, agora com 13 pontos.

Segurança defensiva garante primeiro tempo equilibrado

A solidez defensiva marcou o início da partida no Mineirão. Por mais de 15 minutos, nenhuma das equipes conseguiu ameaçar com perigo a meta adversária. Centralizando sua jogadas com Thiago Neves, o Cruzeiro rodou a bola, mas não conseguiu passar pela zaga baiana. Por outro lado, o Vitória mostrou personalidade e chegou com mais frequência, mas também não criou chances de gol. A melhor oportunidade no início do jogo saiu aos 18 minutos, em boa trama da Raposa, mas que terminou com o gol bem anulado de Sassá, após passe de Diogo Barbosa.

Apesar de melhor em campo, o Cruzeiro produziu pouco no primeiro tempo e só chegou com qualidade na cabeçada de Thiago Neves, muito bem defendida por Fernando Miguel. Além dos ataques pouco frequentes, o time da casa ainda sofreu com as lesões no primeiro tempo e precisou queimar duas mudanças. Já nos acréscimos, Fábio bloqueou o chute de David dentro da área e evitou o gol rubro-negro antes do intervalo.

Goleiro faz milagres, e Vitória segura o empate

No início do segundo tempo, o Cruzeiro demorou para ‘voltar’ para o jogo e passou por alguns sustos. Novamente com David, o time visitante só não marcou por causa de outra boa defesa do goleiro Fábio. A resposta celeste saiu com Sassá, que recebeu livre dentro da área, mas chutou por cima.

Aos 27 minutos, Thiago Neves teve uma chance de ouro, mas parou na ótima defesa de Fernando Miguel. Já no final da partida, o meia do Cruzeiro teve uma nova oportunidade, agora cara a cara com o goleiro do Vitória, mas novamente não conseguiu superar o camisa 1. Apesar da pressão e muita blitz no final do jogo, o time baiano conseguiu se segurar e vai voltar para Salvador com um pontinho na bagagem.

Discussions between the PCB, ECB and Cricket Australia (CA) are at an advanced stage as the three parties try and find a way of rescheduling Pakistan’s ‘home’ series against Australia in England next summer.Australia were due to tour Pakistan for a full series in March 2008 but pulled out because of security concerns. The tour was postponed, but after the terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team in March this year and the subsequent ICC move to take the 2011 World Cup away from Pakistan, international cricket within Pakistan is all but ruled out for the next few years. The PCB, therefore, is looking for ways to minimize the impact on its FTP and is actively looking at neutral venues where it can stage future home commitments.Abu Dhabi and Dubai, where Pakistan just played an ODI series against Australia, is one option but England has always been another, ever since Giles Clarke, the ECB chairman, floated the idea last year.”There is a lot of discussion going on between the three parties,” an official involved in the negotiations told Cricinfo. “Nothing has been finalised just yet but we are getting closer to the possibility that Pakistan plays its Tests against Australia in England next year.”There are obstacles still in the way before any agreement is reached. The first is the itinerary: CA wants to play two Tests and two Twenty20 internationals, while the Pakistan board is keener on a three-Test and three-ODI series. Whichever schedule is settled upon, it will have to be worked in between three international series in the English summer: Bangladesh are touring in May-June for a Test and ODI series and West Indies in July and August. Additionally, in June, Australia are due to play a five-match ODI series with England. Further complication may come in the form of the P20, the ECB’s answer to the IPL, which begins from next summer and may involve international players.Other hurdles are TV rights and the costs involved. Sky Television has the rights to England’s home Tests but this covers those contests where England are the hosts. As the rights holder to Pakistan’s home contests, Ten Sports are likely to be the broadcaster. “The TV rights are a pressing question,” the official said. “It is crucial for the PCB to continue to benefit from broadcasting rights and Ten Sports and Sky will have to come up with some kind of compromise to ensure that happens. It shouldn’t be a problem.”As the PCB found in the series against Australia in the UAE, the costs involved in hosting a ‘home’ series at a neutral venue are prohibitive. Cash-strapped already – though perhaps not as much as initially thought – the cost of holding a series in England will have to be weighed up seriously. “As it was in Dubai, the costs in the UK will be very high,” a PCB official said. “That is something we really have to look at, in terms of how much revenue we will be able to generate.”The venues for the series are yet to be decided though cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham – traditionally home to large British Asian populations – are likely to be on any shortlist.

Em entrevista coletiva nesta sexta-feira, Dorival Júnior teve de explicar, sem detalhar, os motivos da saída de Renan Ribeiro do time titular. O técnico também destacou sua irritação ao saber que uma das razões para Gilberto não renovar com o São Paulo é que o empresário do atacante, Sandro Zardo, gostaria de vê-lo mais em campo.

– Empresário deve se limitar a empresariar, não palpitar em relação ao que sente ou não, interferindo no que se faz em campo. Conversei com Gilberto, tenho muita confiança nele. Ficou afastado de muitos trabalhos na minha chegada e, talvez, não tenha sido aproveitado por isso. Mas é um atleta importante. Empresário não tem noção do clube em que ele está para declarar isso. Vou contar com Gilberto até o final, já que tem vínculo e responsabilidade de fazer o melhor pelo São Paulo.

Dorival lembra que Gilberto tem sofrido com problemas físicos e, por isso, não entra em campo com tanta frequência. Mas, apesar de já ter comunicado que não renovará o contrato, que acaba em dezembro, substituirá Pratto, suspenso, no domingo. E é usado como exemplo de que a saída de Renan Ribeiro da equipe nada tem a ver com a complicada negociação de renovação do goleiro, que fica sem vínculo em maio.

– É uma posição minha, não tem nada a ver com outra situação. Só vejo o que acontece em campo. Gilberto não fará renovação e vai jogar, em situação bem semelhante. A mim, cabe ver o que acontece no campo. Todos são capacitados e têm condições de serem titulares, treinador analisa única e exclusivamente o trabalho de campo. Sobre o que acontece na volta, posso fazer um alerta, mas não sofro nenhum tipo de condição para escolher – disse Dorival irritando-se com a relação que podem fazer de sua decisão com a situação contratual de Renan Ribeiro.

– Nem passou pela minha cabeça esse tipo de situação. Sei há mais de 30 dias do processo de renovação do Renan, e não tomei essa posição antes. Não me envolvo. Se eu passar a fazer isso em razão do dia a dia, não teria me capacitado ser treinador de futebol. Não pode misturar. Mexo com seres humanos, não são produtos que você pode mexer de uma prateleira para outra. Para mexer com atleta, você precisa pensar e analisar muito, porque as reações são as mais adversas possíveis. Nada extracampo me faz tomar decisão, não seria correto e leal com profissional.

Por lealdade, Dorival Júnior também preferiu não expor as falhas que fizeram Renan Ribeiro perder sua posição – no último domingo, o camisa 30 cometeu pênalti, e acumulou falhas em gols adversários nas partidas mais recentes. Os reais motivos da saída do goleiro, segundo o técnico, apenas o próprio Renan sabe.

– Se eu falar, vou expor, e não faço isso com ninguém. Foi uma mudança minha, técnica, dentro do que tenho observado. Não quer dizer nada em relação a jogar com os pés, Renan também sabe. É uma decisão em cima do que observei e, o que preciso pontuar, coloquei ao atleta, que é quem precisa saber os reais motivos. Vamos aguardar o que o Sidão pode apresentar – falou Dorival, confiando em Sidão e, também, em Renan.

– Está sendo desenvolvido um trabalho muito sério com todos os goleiros. Espero que o Sidão seja muito feliz nessa volta. Não descarto, em momento nenhum, uma possível volta do Renan, ele precisa ter tranquilidade. Pontuei que não é o fim do mundo, pode buscar melhora futura profissional. Tenho muito respeito por ele, é desagradável portar essa notícia a ele. Dentro daquilo que observo para o futebol, seria o momento de observar um novo companheiro. Que o Sidão aproveite essa oportunidade.

Mudanças de goleiros constantes no ano
Não é o movimento ideal, não podemos ter uma situação dessas. O ano para o São Paulo, em razão de muitos fatos, foi muito complicado. Coisas acontecem sem você encontrar equilíbrio, questionamentos acontecem naturalmente muito mais com zagueiros e goleiros.

Constantes mudanças no time
São situações pontuais. Neste ano, São Paulo teve rotatividade alta e afeta equilíbrio da equipe. Trabalhamos para cessar isso e focar em quem aqui está e tirar o melhor deles. Continuaremos a trabalhar com uma peça ou outra, tentando modificar o que não está dando resultado ou não está encontrando equilíbrio, um perfeita sintonia de sistema ou compartimento da equipe. Não é favorável, é ruim para qualquer um, mas precisamos acelerar isso.

Derrotas em confrontos diretos
É uma série de fatores. É um fato que está sendo mostrado e temos de conviver e focar muito mais do que nas outras partidas. O São Paulo vinha fazendo grandes jogos e não alcançando grandes resultados. De repente, não fez um jogo tão bom tecnicamente e alcançou uma bela virada. Precisamos de equilíbrio. É um momento instável, mas vai acabar, para que não carreguemos essa carga excessiva que vem sendo carregada pela equipe.

Recomposição pela esquerda
Depende como for no ataque. Se Cueva estiver por dentro, Hernanes tem essa obrigação. Do contrário, quem preenche é o próprio Cueva.

Reforços
Falei que precisamos cessar chegadas e saídas. Pontualmente, pode chegar um ou outro atleta, mas vamos aguardar um pouco.

Denúncia de Pratto por “jogada violenta”
Eu não estava sabendo. Já vi outras jogadas no Brasileiro e até agressões que não deram em nada, jogada de jogo, nada disso. Tanto é que a própria situação do atleta naquele momento, da decisão tomada, ainda que respeite o que foi definido, a reação dele talvez tenha mostrado que a intenção dele não é nada daquilo que deve ter sido denunciado.

Estratégia contra Avaí
Para cada partida, você imagina uma estratégia, tenta fazer com que as cosias deem certo. Não vou falar disso nesse instante, deixo para a partida. Espero aproveitar as condições apresentadas nos 90 minutos. Às vezes, você espera uma reação do adversário e acontece outra. Você precisa estar preparado para desenvolver o que treinou, mas também para mudança rápida de comportamento para uma eventualidade e, também, surpreender o adversário.

Hwang Hee-chan has been praised by Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright after he scored twice to earn Wolves all three points against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Lowdown: Special Hwang

Since his arrival at Molineux on loan from RB Leipzig towards the end of the summer transfer window, the South Korea international has scored three goals and has been instrumental in Wolves’ rise in form following their three defeats at the start of the season.

His two goals against Steve Bruce’s side handed Bruno Lage his first three points at home since taking over at the club and took Wolves to 11th in the Premier League table, five points off fourth-placed Everton.

The Latest: Wright impressed

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day [via Molineux News], Wright stated how impressed he was with Hwang in the 2-1 win over Newcastle, saying: “He has got everything, he has got pace, skill, touch and awareness and he’s always driving to get into the box.”

Wright went on to discuss the partnership between Hwang and Raul Jimenez, after the Mexican striker set up both goals with some terrific hold-up play, comparing the new relationship at Molineux with those Jimenez had previously with Adama Traore and Diogo Jota.

The Verdict: More to come

Wolves’ lack of clinical edge in the final third was evident for all to see in Lage’s first three games in charge, but the arrival of Hwang has seen a different adaptation of play being implemented and it seems to be working a treat so far.

In the 89 minutes that he played against Newcastle, he completed 24 of his 29 passes and scored from both of his shots on target. Whilst he only managed to win three of his seven duels, his pace and finishing were perfect when the chances were provided and he now sits top of Wolves’ goalscoring charts with three goals.

His performances so far for the Midlanders will surely have the likes of Jeff Shi and Lage considering making the move from Germany a permanent one come the end of the season.

Bruno Lage’s side have picked up some much-needed form in the Premier League, following a below-par start to the campaign initially.

Victory away to Southampton was followed up by last weekend’s win at home to Newcastle United, suggesting Wolves have turned a corner.

One individual who is playing no part for Lage’s side in 2021/22 is Gibbs-White, who was sent out on loan to the Blades during the summer.

According to The Star [via Talking Wolves on Twitter], United want Wolves to keep them informed of whether or not they could recall the 21-year-old in January.

With Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently celebrating his sixth anniversary since taking charge of the Merseyside club, it’s safe to say that his reign has been a successful one for the most part, with the Reds securing their first Premier League trophy and their sixth European Cup under his watch.

One man who has played a big role in the team since Klopp took over is Trent Alexander-Arnold, who made his senior debut for the club under the German and has since gone on to make 185 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 47 assists along the way.

Despite Alexander-Arnold still only being 23, it seems as though the club could already have their future right-back star in the shape of 18-year-old Conor Bradley.

Since joining Liverpool’s under-18 side back in September 2019, the Northern Irish teenager – who is currently valued at £360,000 according to Transfermarkt – has made 18 appearances for the under-18s, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the process.

Additionally, Bradley has made 21 appearances for Liverpool’s under-23s, in which he has managed to score one goal and providing five assists, showing that he can as much of an attacking right-back as Alexander-Arnold can.

He made his senior debut for the Reds in their 3-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup last month, which was described as “amazing” by his former Dungannon United youth coach Dixie Robinson.

Looking ahead to the future, we see no reason why Bradley cannot one day be a regular in Liverpool’s senior side if he continues to impress in the youth ranks and takes any opportunity he has in the first team to show he is capable of being a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold whenever the Englishman can’t play.

With Klopp’s side set to take on Championship club Preston North End in the next round of the Carabao Cup later this month, we think that could be another good opportunity for Bradley to show what he can do for the Reds against senior opposition, whilst also giving Alexander-Arnold a chance to rest up for Premier League and Champions League games.

Na manhã deste domingo, o Bahia foi derrotado pelo Santos no Pacaembu, por 3 a 0, e deixou escapar a chance de se afastar da zona de rebaixamento. No entanto, o treinador Jorginho acredita que o time jogou bem e não merecia o resultado.

Essa foi a segunda partida fora de casa seguida que o Bahia disputou nesta semana: na quarta-feira, venceu o Atlético-MG dentro da Arena Independência por 2 a 0. Segundo Jorginho, apesar da derrota, o Bahia jogou melhor neste domingo do que contra o Galo, e vê o placar de 3 a 0 como injusto.

– Eu acho que a gente não jogou mal. A gente, na realidade, foi muito mais pressionado pelo Atlético-MG do que nesse jogo. Nós tomamos um gol num momento em que a gente estava muito bem na partida. Não consigo enxergar realmente, os 3 a 0 não condizem com aquilo que foi o jogo. Tomamos o segundo gol no finalzinho do primeiro tempo. Isso foi um baque muito forte, porque a equipe estava se recuperando do gol tomado, a equipe estava organizada – lamentou o treinador.

O elenco do Bahia também fez coro ao técnico Jorginho. Para o volante Juninho, o time tricolor pecou nas chances desperdiçadas, além da desatenção no lances de gol do Santos.

– Tivemos algumas desatenções. Começamos o jogo bem, mas tivemos desatenções que acabaram nos prejudicando no primeiro tempo. Tivemos chances, mas não fizemos no segundo tempo. Isso acaba nos prejudicando – contou o jogador à Rádio Metrópole.

Smith joined his Cobras team-mates at the nets on Tuesday and remarked he was happy with his progress.Smith was hit on his left knuckle by Mitchell Johnson while batting in the third Test in Sydney and bravely batted at No. 11 in the second innings to save the game, but in vain. He subsequently missed the limited-overs leg of the tour.”The knuckle injury has healed nicely and feels pretty much 100%,” Smith told the . “Obviously taking another blow there would be rather sore. And I’ve just had a period getting over the bruising from a second (blood) injection in my elbow.”I did feel a little bit rusty, I guess. It was about getting confidence and movements back today. As the day’s gone on, I’ve felt more and more happy. This is probably the best preparation I’ve had in a long time.”Smith has also been battling a tennis elbow in his right arm, for which he will require surgery but only after the Test series against Australia at home.”From what the doctors say, you can’t really do long-term damage,” he said. “If I need the surgery, then it’s just about taking the required three months in a big enough break from cricket.”Cobras coach Shukri Conrad too was satisfied with Smith’s workout.
