Luke Edwards has dropped some worrying insight on Newcastle United ace Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Lowdown: Speculation

There has recently been some speculation that Everton could make an ambitious move to try and sign Saint-Maximin before the summer transfer window shuts.

However, the French winger would likely cost in the region of £70m, which the Goodison Park faithful are very unlikely to be able to afford, although that price could be negotiated down.

The Latest: Edwards on Saint-Maximin

Writing on his official Twitter page, The Daily Telegraph journalist Edwards has shared some insight on Saint-Maximin’s current situation at St. James’ Park, claiming that he is ‘unsettled’ and that there are people around him who ‘would like’ to see him move on from the North East club:

“And on Saint-Maximin, I have no doubt he is unsettled and there are plenty of people around him who would like to get him a move, but they are same people who got him to sign a six-year contract last year and valuation is £70m+, #nufc have strong hand – no pressure to sell.”

The Verdict: Worrying

Although the Tyneside club are under ‘no pressure’ to sell Saint-Maximin as Edwards claims, the fact that he is ‘unsettled’ is certainly worrying in terms of his near future.

As good as he is, Steve Bruce will surely not want to keep a player who does not want to play for him, and with the speculation that the Toffees may come in for him, the Magpies may still opt to sell if the price is right.

Nonetheless, the Toon Army will no doubt be trying to persuade Saint-Maximin to stay, especially with the start of the new 2021/22 season just around the corner and very few players in the squad anywhere close to the level of excitement the Frenchman brings to St James’ Park.

Leicester City have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his defensive options.

What’s the story?

Highly-rated centre-back Wesley Fofana suffered a fractured fibula during a pre-season game against Villarreal on Wednesday, leaving the Midlands outfit in desperate need of an additional centre-back before the new campaign kicks off.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Foxes are one of four Premier League clubs interested in acquiring Lenglet’s services this summer, with Everton, Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion also credited with an interest.

The report claims that Barca are offering the 26-year-old around to several clubs as they’re keen to secure a sale, allowing them to lower their wage bill and facilitate the registration of their new signings.

Jon Rudkin must swoop

Lenglet arrived at Camp Nou from Sevilla in a £31.7m deal back in 2018, but he’s failed to live up to expectations with the Catalan giants. He made 33 appearances in La Liga last season due to injury issues for Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique, although his performances left a lot to be desired.

The France international received a lowly WhoScored rating of 6.59 for his underwhelming displays, leading to speculation of an imminent exit.

However, on his day, Lenglet is still undoubtedly a top-class player capable of producing elite performances on the biggest of stages.

His international manager Didier Deschamps has previously lauded the £22.5m-rated gem, praising his technical ability, a key asset for a modern-day defender.

“He’s a top player. He’s got good technique, and despite his size, he’s not bothered by individual duels. He’s a player who’s improving every day, ” said Deschamps.

With Barca’s desperate financial situation well known and Lenglet reportedly up for sale and in need of a fresh start, Leicester’s director of football Jon Rudkin must swoop for the 26-year-old this summer.

The 6 ft 1 beast would solve the FA Cup holders’ shortage in the heart of defence, provide Rodgers with a natural left-footed option at centre-back and potentially deliver a significant boost to their chances of finishing inside the top four.

Sreesanth, who also missed the Kitply Cup in Bangladesh, has not recovered from the side strain he sustained during the Indian Premier League.He was declared unfit for the tournament by Paul Close, the physio at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. وأضاف: “ولكن نجيب هنا، لماذا لم يبادر الأهلي بدفعها؟، لأن رمضان لم يكمل الموسم مع الأهلي في الدوري ولم يلعب مع المارد الأحمر الأدوار الاقصائية في البطولة الإفريقية”.

وتابع: “الأهلي طلب مد الإعارة لمدة شهر لكي يلعب معنا الأدوار الإقصائية في البطولة الإفريقية حتى يتمكن اللاعب من المشاركة ولكن رفض النادي الإنجليزي وقالوا هذا العقد”.

وأتم: “هذا كان موسم كورونا وكان هناك ظروف إستثنائية، الدوري الإنجليزي توقف وبعد ذلك تم استكمال الموسم قبلما يتم استئناف الدوري في مصر، والموسم في مصر انتهى متاخرًا”.

Newcastle United have now reportedly agreed a deal to sign Joe Willock before the summer transfer window ends.

The Lowdown: Willock targeted

Willock is reportedly the priority target for the North East club in this window after putting in some very impressive performances during his loan spell at St. James’ Park from Arsenal in the 2020/21 term.

The central midfield player helped himself to eight goals in 14 matches in the Premier League while playing for the Tyneside club (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: Deal reportedly agreed

According to 90min, a deal has now been agreed for Willock to move to the Magpies, and he has been told by the Gunners that he can leave.

Steve Bruce’s team have proposed a permanent deal which could be worth up to £25m including add-ons, and presents a ‘significant’ investment as it exceeds their reported budget of £20m.

However, a deal is no closer because Willock himself has not decided yet if he would like to leave the Emirates Stadium.

The North London club have told the Magpies that they would be willing to accept a loan offer with an option to buy, but they would prefer to sign him permanently.

The Verdict: Sign

So long as Willock agrees to move to the Toon, then they should pay the £25m fee, as he will be worth it for them in the long-term.

He already proved how much of an asset he can be to them, as Allan Saint-Maximin dubbed him as an ‘amazing’ player after his loan spell ended.

Nonetheless, it is a no brainer to bring Willock back – he has a proven track record on Tyneside, a great relationship emerging on the pitch with Saint-Maximin and is adored by the fans.

Contudo, é improvável que o lateral-direito do Timão perca as finais do Campeonato Paulista, contra a Ponte Preta.

As decisões do Estadual ocorrerão nos dois próximos domingos, em 30 de abril e 7 de maio, e aexpectativa é de que, se os atletas forem denunciados, só haja julgamento depois do dia 8 de maio. As sessões do tribunal acontecem às segundas-feiras, mas na próxima é feriado nacional, por conta do Dia do Trabalho.

Entretanto, o procurador Wilson Marqueti, em entrevista à ESPN Brasil, não descartou a possibilidade de uma decisão em caráter liminar, que afaste Fagner da segunda final:

-Dependendo da gravidade, pode ocorrer um pedido da procuradoria nesse sentido. Aí o presidente do Tribunal que irá decidir se dará o efeito suspensivo até o julgamento – declarou Marqueti, que ainda irá analisar as imagens da confusão.
