اعترف ريتشارد أرنولد الرئيس التنفيذي لنادي مانشستر يونايتد بأن الموسم الماضي كان “كابوسًا مروعًا” بعد موافقته على مقابلة مجموعة من المشجعين الغاضبين.

اعترف الرجل المكلف بإعادة بناء مانشستر يونايتد داخل وخارج الملعب أنه بينما سيحصل المدرب الجديد إريك تن هاج على الأموال لتقوية فريقه على أرض الملعب، يواجه النادي ثقبًا أسودًا قيمته مليار جنيه إسترليني في خططهم لإعادة تطوير الأولد ترافورد وملعب تدريب كارينجتون.

تحدث أرنولد إلى عدد من مشجعي مانشستر يونايتد في حانة محلية في شيشاير بعد أن قيل لهم إن مجموعة قد تجمعت هناك على أمل رؤيته في المنطقة.

وواصل: “لا يمكنك الذهاب إلى ملعب التدريب الخاص بنا وتقول (أرني مكان وجود المليار جنيه إسترليني لأننا لم ننفق المال جيدًا تاريخيًا)، أنا لست هنا للدفاع عن مُلاك النادي، يجب أن يتحدثوا عن أنفسهم”.

وأردف: “لكنكم أخذتم الوقت الكافي للمجيء إلى هنا والإعلان عن آرائكم، وأنا أحترم ذلك، لقد أنفقنا مبلغًا هائلاً من المال”.

واستكمل: “يريد مسؤولو النادي أن نكون متواجدين في فترة الانتقالات، بالنسبة للمستقبل نريد كذلك الاستثمار في ملعب جديد وأحدث وأكبر ملعب تدريب، علينا القيام بشيء ما، علينا جذب المستثمرين”.

وتابع: “أحتاج ذلك لأفعل ما أريد للنادي، يجب أن أمتلك المزيد من المال الآن لأنه لا يوجد ناد في العالم لديه المال لبناء ملعب جديد، إما أن تقترضها أو تستثمرها، يجب أن يأتي المال من مكان ما”.

واستمر: “قد لا تحبون مالكينا الحاليين، لا يمكنني المساعدة في ذلك، ولكن إذا كنتم تريدون أن يأتي شخص آخر فسوف يرى أن الجماهير تحب الفريق وهذا أمر إيجابي”.

وأكد: “لكن العام الماضي كان كابوسًا مروعًا، كانت هناك كراهية في كل مباراة”.

Apesar de sair atrás no marcador, o Sport continuou melhor e correu atrás do empate. E ele veio com Diego Souza. Depois de muito reclamar de um pênalti não marcado, o meia foi derrubado por Fábio dentro da área minutos mais tarde. Desta vez, a arbitragem marcou e o meia converteu. Tudo igual na Ilha.

It’s no secret that the art of defending has probably progressed quicker than any other skill needed to play the beautiful game.

Back in the day it was almost always about making sure the ball was cleared, no matter what, with hitting row Z being a particular bonus point.

But now it’s all about passing, positioning, reading the game and helping the the midfielders and strikers press the opposition.

Betway Insider have spoken to a number of top ex-Premier League defenders, all of which have won numerous Premier League titles whilst playing for the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, and they’ve been recalling what it was like defending in their time as professionals compared to what they’re seeing in the modern game.

Gary Pallister, who won four Premier League titles with Manchester United between 1992 and 1997, points to how much the quality of the pitches have improved over time, explaining: “A lot of the issues were to do with the pitches.

“If you look at the pitches I played on in the early part of my career, they looked like rugby pitches. Nowadays they’re like bowling greens and you can take more risks if you trust the pitch.”

Nigel Winterburn, a Premier League title winner in 1997/1998 and two-time First Division winner between 1988 and 1991, points to the fact you no longer have to just be a good defender in order to make it in the modern game, you have to be more of an allrounder.

“When I played, you had to be an outstanding defender or you wouldn’t get into one of the top four teams,” he said.

“Now you don’t have to be as good defensively, but if you don’t have that quality on the ball then you probably wouldn’t get into a top team.”

And Lauren, another Premier League title winner with Arsenal, twice lifting the trophy, puts it perfectly, suggesting that as the game evolves, so does the players and the positions involved.

He said: “Not everything from today’s game is fantastic. But to be the best now, you have to combine the best of the most traditional skills and the best of the modern-day skills.

“Evolution is good.”

Crystal Palace have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa.

What’s the story?

According to French outlet Foot Mercato (as relayed by Sport Witness), PSG are keen to offload the 28-year-old this summer, and Selhurst Park could be the ideal destination for him.

The report claims that new Palace manager Patrick Vieira has ‘validated’ the left-back’s profile, although no formal offer has been made as of yet.

Kurzawa was believed to be close to joining Ligue 1 outfit Lyon earlier in the current window until Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri joined them on loan, leaving the France international searching for another club.

And Kurzawa may be the ideal addition, providing an experienced alternative to Mitchell, who has proven his capability at the highest level following six successful years at the Parc des Princes.

Since arrival in Paris back in 2015, the £10.8m-rated defender has made 153 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s charges, scoring 14 goals and providing 23 assists, winning 13 major trophies along the way.

However, the arrival of Juan Bernat and Abdou Diallo has severely limited Kurzawa’s game time over the last couple of campaigns, limiting him to just 24 league starts since the beginning of 2019/20.

As a result, it appears the former Monaco ace is amongst the reported 10 players who were made available for transfer following the arrival of six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi as PSG look to recuperate some funds and trim their wage bill.

It remains to be seen whether Palace chairman Steve Parish will make a move for Kurzawa in the remaining days of the window, but it’s certainly something he should strongly consider given how light Vieira is in that area of the pitch.

Three games without a victory have marked the beginning of Vieira’s era in south London and the arrival of a serial winner could provide the spark that Palace are currently lacking.

A equipe do Triângulo Mineiro superou equipes tradicionais, inclusive o Boa Esporte, que disputa a Série B do Brasileirão e foi seu principal concorrente ao título. Para o desafio da primeira divisão, Rogério afirma que o clube começará a trabalhar em julho, visando o campeonato do ano que vem. Ele foi o responsável também pelo acesso do time no ano passado, quando ascendeu da Segunda Divisão para o Módulo 2.
