أكد الإسباني روبرتو جارسيا باروندو مدرب منتخب مصر لكرة اليد أن الفريق يفصله فقط خطوتين على تحقيق لقب كأس الأمم الإفريقية المقامة في مصر حتى 18 يوليو الجاري.

ونجح منتخب مصر في تحقيق الفوز على نظيره الجزائري بنتيجة 34-19 فى إطار دور ربع نهائي كأس الأمم الإفريقية التي تستضيفها مصر، وذلك على صالة حسن مصطفى بالسادس من أكتوبر، ليتأهل إلى مواجهة تونس في نصف النهائي ويضمن بطاقة التأهل لبطولة العالم المقبلة.

وقال باروندو في المؤتمر الصحفي بعد المباراة: “سعيد للغاية بالتأهل لنصف النهائي والأداء الذي قدمناه والآن أصبح متبقي خطوتين فقط على تحقيقنا اللقب”.

وأضاف: “نلعب نصف النهائي اليوم أمام تونس ونبدأ الاستعداد من الآن ونركز بشكل كبير في كل مباراة ونريد تقديم أقصى جهد للتتويج باللقب”.

وتابع: “كنت أفضل الحصول على يوم راحة، لكن هذا نظام البطولة، ويجب علينا احترامه، ونستعد بقوة لمباراة نصف النهائي أمام تونس”.

وأوضح: “منتخب تونس قوي ونعرفه جيدا وواجهناه كثيرا في السنوات الماضية لكنها مباراة مثل أي مباراة، ونريد تحقيق الفوز والتأهل للنهائي”.

واختتم موجهًا رسالة للجماهير: “أريد أن أشكر الجماهير الكبيرة التي قدمت الدعم لنا في كل المباريات وخلقت أجواء ممتعة في مباراة الجزائر وهم يساعدوننا بشكل كبير ونريد إسعادهم بلقب إفريقيا”.

ويلتقى منتخب مصر مع تونس، مساء اليوم السبت في التاسعة مساءً، في نصف نهائى البطولة على صالة حسن مصطفى.

Australia’s selectors hope Brett Lee and Matthew Hayden will continue to be part of their plans for the Ashes despite both men spluttering since the tour of India. The senior players were retained for the Boxing Day Test on Friday, but their futures have been clouded by low returns and their lack of contributions during the record-breaking defeat to South Africa on Sunday.”The expectation is that Brett will play,” Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, told AAP. “As far as the long-term future is concerned, we see all the senior players, including Brett, as critical to our rebuilding phase. We’ll be very reluctant to look at younger players who we bring in as being under significant pressure.”Hilditch said he was “reasonably happy” with the way Lee bowled in Perth and he didn’t believe the fast bowler was nearing retirement. “We don’t think Brett’s at that stage, he’s a really fit person, he’s got a perfect fast bowling build, I’m told by all the specialists, and most think with the right core strength and conditioning programs he can actually bowl faster,” he said. “So that’s going to be the key over the next six months before the Ashes.”Despite the second Test being only a few days away, Hilditch also spoke about Hayden in terms of the Ashes trip. “We haven’t had any of those discussions [about retirement],” he said. “The only discussions go back a long time ago, which was made quite clear that our plans were we’d like him to get through to the end of the Ashes, which we see as critical. He’s one of those players we’d not want to lose before the Ashes.”Hilditch said Hayden, who has scored 48 runs in three Tests, was going through a “rough time”. “We’ve just got to back our judgment and our judgment looking at him in the nets, looking at the way he’s moving, the way he’s catching, there’s no indications that he’s not just around the corner from a big score,” he said. “I wouldn’t mind backing him for a big score in the Boxing Day Test.”Australia have brought in Nathan Hauritz and Ben Hilfenhaus for the game in Melbourne and there will be more changes before the match. Peter Siddle, who played his second Test in Perth, is also in the 13-man squad.

وعن الفوز على إنبي في مباراة اليوم تحدث: “تعرضنا لموقف صعب للغاية بغياب الـ3 مهاجمين الأساسيين بالفريق لإصابات طويلة، مثل عمرو جمال وسيف تيري ورزقي حمرون واضطررنا للاعتماد على الشباب”.

وأضاف: “أشكر البرتغالي نونو ألميدا وجهازه الفني بالكامل، جميع أفراد الجهاز يعملون طوال الوقت دون توقف، وهو ما ساعدنا على النجاح حاليا”.

واختتم: “نوفر المتطلبات المنطقية للجهاز الفني وهو ما خلق بيئة تساعد على النجاح”.

Clark, who is 33, has had a disrupted season since being hampered by the problem during the tour of India and electing to have an operation when the series against South Africa began.Clark, who bowled three overs in his return for Sydney University on Saturday, did not make his Test debut until he was 30 and thinks the late entry will help extend his career. “I believe it depends on what age you come into international cricket,” he said in the Sunday Mail.”If you come in when you are young, you have about eight to 10 years of good international cricket just because the travel and the number of games you play wears you down. I came in late, so I missed a lot of that wear and tear when I was younger.”Clark, who has appeared in 22 Tests, said he had “three or four years of good cricket in me”, but his first priority was getting back to full fitness. He will hope to be ready for New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania in Newcastle on Friday to prove his form and fitness for the tour of South Africa.On that trip three years ago Clark stormed to 20 wickets at 15.85 in his debut series. “I know not many fast bowlers go on beyond the age of 33 or 34,” he said, “but I am going to beg to differ.”

Many Newcastle United fans have been left slamming Jarred Gillett in the first half of their game away at Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Australian referee decided to give Javier Manquillo a yellow card for a foul on Danny Rose in the 18th minute of the match, and a lot of Magpies thought that it should not have even been a foul, let alone a booking.

Gillett has made history in today’s fixture by being the first ref from outside of the UK and Ireland to have refereed a game in the Premier League, after spending two years officiating in the EFL Championship, and he also spent nine years in the Australian top flight.

Smith joined his Cobras team-mates at the nets on Tuesday and remarked he was happy with his progress.Smith was hit on his left knuckle by Mitchell Johnson while batting in the third Test in Sydney and bravely batted at No. 11 in the second innings to save the game, but in vain. He subsequently missed the limited-overs leg of the tour.”The knuckle injury has healed nicely and feels pretty much 100%,” Smith told the . “Obviously taking another blow there would be rather sore. And I’ve just had a period getting over the bruising from a second (blood) injection in my elbow.”I did feel a little bit rusty, I guess. It was about getting confidence and movements back today. As the day’s gone on, I’ve felt more and more happy.
