Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam believes winning the ICC World Twenty20 in England this summer would be a great way to restore lost pride to a distressed nation.Teams have been wary of touring Pakistan in the recent past because of the troubled security situation, and the Lahore shootout has raised questions over the country’s status as an international sporting venue. Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, has said that he expects teams to tour Pakistan in “six to nine months” and now Alam has called on his players to target the England tournament to lift spirits.”Our cricket is going through a rough phase,” Alam was quoted as saying by the , “but we have to fight on and one way of doing that is to start winning titles like the World Twenty20.”Pakistan were finalists in the inaugural edition of the tournament in South Africa in 2007, losing a thriller to India, and Alam believed they had a good shot at winning it in June. “There is no doubt that we can win the title in England,” he said. “We have a very reliable batting line-up, while our bowlers are also very good for the shorter version of the game.”Although it is a batsman’s game, bowlers too can play a part by bowling accurate yorkers and mixing up their deliveries. We have enough talent to form a potent attack and we have to ensure they are in peak form for the tournament,” said Alam. “Twenty20 is a relatively new innovation, but enough games have been played around the world and they have all underlined the fact that the teams with a higher level of fitness and better fielding skills enjoy a clear edge. That is one area which we would have to improve on.”Pakistan are grouped with England and the Netherlands in Group B for the first stage of the tournament.

Tomamos o segundo gol no finalzinho do primeiro tempo.

Wolves: Ian Wright praises Hwang Hee-chan

Hwang Hee-chan has been praised by Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright after he scored twice to earn Wolves all three points against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Lowdown: Special Hwang

Since his arrival at Molineux on loan from RB Leipzig towards the end of the summer transfer window, the South Korea international has scored three goals and has been instrumental in Wolves’ rise in form following their three defeats at the start of the season.

His two goals against Steve Bruce’s side handed Bruno Lage his first three points at home since taking over at the club and took Wolves to 11th in the Premier League table, five points off fourth-placed Everton.

The Latest: Wright impressed

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day [via Molineux News], Wright stated how impressed he was with Hwang in the 2-1 win over Newcastle, saying: “He has got everything, he has got pace, skill, touch and awareness and he’s always driving to get into the box.”

Wright went on to discuss the partnership between Hwang and Raul Jimenez, after the Mexican striker set up both goals with some terrific hold-up play, comparing the new relationship at Molineux with those Jimenez had previously with Adama Traore and Diogo Jota.

The Verdict: More to come

Wolves’ lack of clinical edge in the final third was evident for all to see in Lage’s first three games in charge, but the arrival of Hwang has seen a different adaptation of play being implemented and it seems to be working a treat so far.

In the 89 minutes that he played against Newcastle, he completed 24 of his 29 passes and scored from both of his shots on target. Whilst he only managed to win three of his seven duels, his pace and finishing were perfect when the chances were provided and he now sits top of Wolves’ goalscoring charts with three goals.

His performances so far for the Midlanders will surely have the likes of Jeff Shi and Lage considering making the move from Germany a permanent one come the end of the season.

Fungus forces Napier pitch to be moved

A fungus growth has forced curators at McLean Park to shift the pitch for the second Test between New Zealand and India so as to keep the affected areas outside the playing zone.Andy Moles, the New Zealand coach who wanted a seaming pitch for the Test after India took the series lead in Hamilton, said the surface had been moved two to three feet so that it now included half the original pitch and half of the adjacent one which was used for the one-day game between the two sides earlier this month. The pitch was reseeded after the Test against West Indies in December last year and the fungus affected the grass growth.Blair Furlong, the Central Districts chief executive, said the grass was patchy on the old pitch and the new surface would have an even spread. “It will be a good pitch, it will do something at the start and then flatten out,” Furlong was quoted as saying to the . “It certainly won’t be a greentop, we don’t want a two-day Test.” New Zealand Cricket also released a statement on the pitch which it expected to be in “top playing condition”. “The new strip appears hard and flat, with affected areas well outside the playing zone,” the board said. “The strip has been extensively prepared over the past 10 days and is in excellent condition.”Moles said while the groundsman was confident the pitch would play well. “We need a typical New Zealand wicket where it nips for about a couple of days so it brings our seamers into the game against their batting attack which is used to the ball being true and turning a bit,” Moles said.Moles said the best way to nullify the Indian batsmen was to exploit sideways movement against them. “If the wicket is very dry it can turn a lot, which is obviously something we don’t want to experience down there.”

Wolves fans don’t want Gibbs-White return

A number of Wolves supporters are happy for Morgan Gibbs-White to stay at Sheffield United all season, or even see the club sell him in January.

Bruno Lage’s side have picked up some much-needed form in the Premier League, following a below-par start to the campaign initially.

Victory away to Southampton was followed up by last weekend’s win at home to Newcastle United, suggesting Wolves have turned a corner.

One individual who is playing no part for Lage’s side in 2021/22 is Gibbs-White, who was sent out on loan to the Blades during the summer.

According to The Star [via Talking Wolves on Twitter], United want Wolves to keep them informed of whether or not they could recall the 21-year-old in January.

It appears as though the youngster isn’t wanted back at Molineux any time soon, though, with these fans taking to Twitter to provide their thoughts on the situation.

“Leave the lad where he is for the entire season. Let him play games and get experience until he’s able to contribute regularly for the wolves. It doesn’t benefit anyone him playing 10 minutes every other league game and in the cup”

“Let him stay at Sheffield United. Then let’s see what he can do next season after playing regularly for a season. He’s stagnated at Wolves because he hasn’t started enough games to develop”

“100% stay there. Not good enough to play Premier league every week and the odd few minutes here or there isn’t going to help”

“Just don’t get all the hype over this guy he’s not even that young anymore been hanging around Wolves for years. Just because he came through the Wolves academy, time to sell him”

Liverpool: Conor Bradley could be the new Trent

With Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently celebrating his sixth anniversary since taking charge of the Merseyside club, it’s safe to say that his reign has been a successful one for the most part, with the Reds securing their first Premier League trophy and their sixth European Cup under his watch.

One man who has played a big role in the team since Klopp took over is Trent Alexander-Arnold, who made his senior debut for the club under the German and has since gone on to make 185 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 47 assists along the way.

Despite Alexander-Arnold still only being 23, it seems as though the club could already have their future right-back star in the shape of 18-year-old Conor Bradley.

Since joining Liverpool’s under-18 side back in September 2019, the Northern Irish teenager – who is currently valued at £360,000 according to Transfermarkt – has made 18 appearances for the under-18s, scoring three goals and providing one assist in the process.

Additionally, Bradley has made 21 appearances for Liverpool’s under-23s, in which he has managed to score one goal and providing five assists, showing that he can as much of an attacking right-back as Alexander-Arnold can.

He made his senior debut for the Reds in their 3-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup last month, which was described as “amazing” by his former Dungannon United youth coach Dixie Robinson.

Looking ahead to the future, we see no reason why Bradley cannot one day be a regular in Liverpool’s senior side if he continues to impress in the youth ranks and takes any opportunity he has in the first team to show he is capable of being a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold whenever the Englishman can’t play.

With Klopp’s side set to take on Championship club Preston North End in the next round of the Carabao Cup later this month, we think that could be another good opportunity for Bradley to show what he can do for the Reds against senior opposition, whilst also giving Alexander-Arnold a chance to rest up for Premier League and Champions League games.
